NAME FOR FAME – The Countdown …

Wednesday, January 25th, 2012

Only a couple of days more to go:

NAME FOR FAME

INVENT A TRICK OR THROW DOWN AN OLD CLASSIC IN A COMPLETELY NEW WAY, NAME IT AND SEND US THE EVIDENCE … and you could be the WINNER of a super fly Amplid snowboard/skis.

Jon Olson gave us the Kangaroo flip. Halldor Helgason’s warped mind invented the Lobster flip. 1970’s Hot Dogging extraordinaire Eddie Lincoln whipped his rear-entry boots and straight skis through the first Lincoln Loop. Remember Jim Rippey and Terje Haakonson? Yep you guessed it, they’ve both got inverts named after them too. Now it is time for you to join the club.

Amplid wants you to create a completely new trick or add your own little twist to a classic. An Andrecht handplant with a Chicken Salad grab could be a ‘Saladplant’, or an underflip on a step-down could be a ‘down-under flip’. Who knows what trickery you’ve got stashed away in your own private arsenal of bangers, but if it’s unique we want to see it. Once you’ve nailed your signature trick and captured it on video or in a photo, we want you to send us the footage. If your entry is the judge’s favourite you will win an Amplid Dopamine Snowboard or Provoke Skis depending on which way you like to slide

HOW TO ENTER

Of course we need to know it’s you performing your signature trick and not some out of work pro looking to milk his double Lawn Dart flip for a cut of your amplidschwag.
For video entries we’d like you to introduce yourself, the competition and your signature trick on film e.g. My name is Randy, this is the amplid “Name for Fame” competition and I’m about to perform the “Randy-o” my twist on the rodeo.
If you are submitting a photo entry please print out this PDF-doc AMPLID_nameforfame (CLICK ON THE LINK TO DOWNLOAD FILE) and get a picture of yourself at the spot where you intend to perform your signature trick holding the sign out in front of you and send this picture together with your signature trick entry. On your email please include a brief explanation of the trick.
Competition entries can be submitted from Tuesday 29th of November 2011 and the final day for submissions is Saturday 28th of January 2012.
Video submissions must consist of an emailed vimeo or youtube link, please title your video as follows:
“ Your Name – Amplid Name for Fame Entry” e.g. Anne Onymous – Amplid Name for Fame Entry
Photo submissions can be emailed directly to nameforfame@amplid.combut both the photo of the trick and of the rider holding the competition sign must be no larger than 1MB in size. All email submissions should include the entrants: full name, age, email address and postal address.
We will reveal the competition winners on Monday 30th January 2011

TheSeventhLetter: Roid – Reflections

Thursday, January 5th, 2012

Our ARC artists turned in this video post: Painting some of the most exciting pieces around the world in 2011, Roids contributions to graffiti can’t be missed. His approach and technique are refreshing, and this video demonstrates his eye for creatively.

This video documents the process of artist Roids painting a signature T-Shirt design for TheSeventhLetter line on a recent trip to Detroit. Roid uses a unique process of painting half the letters upside-down, only to be revealed in the reflection of a murky puddle of water below.
