When one of the biggest events of the year happens in your backyard it’s time to step-up your riding and show the media what you can do. That’s what Amplid Cartel shredder Justin Norman did when Snowboarder Magazine’s Superpark 16 came to Mt Bachelor. Justin took the bull by the horns and hit this monster speed wobble inducing step-up with smooth style and bagged a shot (by Snowboarder’s Senior Editor T-Bird) in Snowboarder Mag’s write-up of the event. Check out the Snowboarder Magazine Superpark 16 article here.

Favorite Five Fridays: J-Norm’s Favorite Gourmet Dinners

Friday, October 28th, 2011

Every Friday we ask a member of the amplid Cartel team to tell us about five of their favorites. From five must have tricks you need in your repertoire to the five albums that are rocking their headphones every time they destroy the park. Weekly we’re bringing you closer to the amplid Cartel.

Five reasons to add J-Norm to your facebook friends

This week part-time chef and full time ripper Justin Norman runs through five impressive dishes that he likes to rustle-up from time to time… damn reading them is making me salivate. Can I change my breakfast order to steak and potatoes? Over to Justin…

I chose this photo with five vegetarian breakfast burritos in it! The process was fun because I like cooking a lot, especially when I get to make the meal gourmet. In this photo I was making breakfast for five while hosting a gear sale at my girlfriend’s house. The rejuvenating burrito included an array of vegetables, farm fresh eggs, pepper jack cheese, sour cream, and hot sauce. This is a specialty of mine when I get ready to head up to mountain or return from the hill in need of a delicious protein intake. Cooking is one of my favorite things to do when I am not riding or even on a backcountry trip.

My five favorite meals to prepare and eat are:

Sushi - This is a very time consuming process that I enjoy when I have a good deal of time to prepare for. My favorite fish is Salmon and Hamachi because of the distinct buttery flavor of the delicate fish. I have worked at a few sushi restaurants around Bend, OR and currently enjoy making the meal for friends. My favorite roll is the Philadelphia roll consisting of salmon, avocado, and cream cheese!

Steak and Potatoes - A simple yet amazing and classic meal. I have been known to make this meal for friends and family because it is fairly easy to make and makes you feel real American. I prefer to use grass fed beef! Usually a ribeye and rustic mash potatoes are a compliment to a hard day’s work.

Pasta Primavera - Once I learned how to make mac and cheese from scratch, I started adding vegetables to the mix. This has been one of my favorite dishes because it is so filling and feeds a lot of people.

Broiled Salmon - Okay, so broiled salmon is almost as good as salmon in sushi but not quite. This is one of my favorite past times making bomb salmon for my grandparents in Eugene, OR. Quick pan fry of the fillet on each side and then broil it in the oven to caramelize a little mayo on top before devouring. This is good eats in my book!

Omelettes and hash browns - Who doesn’t enjoy a hearty breakfast? An omelette and some hash browns make anyone feel like a kid again. That mouth-watering feeling of a fresh breakfast in front of you, gets me every time. Quiche is another twist on this meal that I love after a long day at the mountain. I am always down for breakfast, any time of the day.

J-Norm.com

Cartel team rider Justin Norman aka J-Norm dropped amplid HQ a little email today to let us know that his new website is live. J-Norm.com features heaps of well shot shred pics of Justin putting his Dopamine through all sorts of grimy street jibs, captured beautifully by the likes of snowboard paparazzi Tyler Orton and Drew Smalley. On a dedicated videos page, there are also oodles of edits from Justin’s summer at Windells with some kink rail bangers that will have you wondering why you haven’t seen more of Justin in the big magazines.
