The sun was gleaming brilliantly off the rolling slopes of Mt. Hood as we arrived at Timberline, illuminating the huge mound of snow up on the Palmer snowfield that had become the WCS 5 money booter.
The jump had already been checked in on Sunday during the public session by Tim McChesney, Jon Marks, Charlie Lasser, Tim Gage and Joss Christensen. Some said it was the biggest jump they’d ever hit; others said it was the best jump they’d ever hit. So when we finally got to session it on Wednesday after a brief warm-up in the park, it didn’t take long for things to heat up.

Jon Marks is one skier who knows how to give ‘er. He took several brutal slams over the day but still came out with some of the best shots. Hey, they say Babe Ruth had the record for the most strikeouts, right? Sequence: Stone

All too quickly, Day Four of this year’s West Coast Session arrived last Wednesday. It seems like every year it goes by faster. Maybe next year we’ll go for a week! The day before, we sessioned just a little bit of the unbelievably awesome Windell’s campus. No better way to follow up a ski day than with a skate and trampoline sesh. Thanks to Windell’s for allowing us full use of their facilities!

Day 3: The sky has cleared up again, after a windy and snowy day 2. Perfect kickers and a couple inches of fresh were irresistible  motivation factors for the entire crew. The ARC is getting busy: Steve is back big time after his injury, as you can see. Alex Martini made it over all the way from the east coast, Malone is rocking well on his Rockwells … the party continues !

This year we moved to an early-week schedule, Sunday thru Wednesday, and opted to kick things off with the public jam for once. The weather couldn’t have been better. Clear blue skies were a welcome sight for Oregonians who have barely seen the sun in month. Locals and invited riders alike wasted no time getting busy in Timberline’s terrain parks. Spring on the West Coast and the feeling is good, it’s time to pack your bags and get out to Mt. Hood! It’s high time for another West Coast Session, now back for a triumphant fifth year.

Each spring the West Coast Session brings together North America’s top young skiers, videographers and photographers for an unconventional four-day film and photo shoot that has achieved cult status in the ski community. This year’s event takes place May 1-4. The world-class terrain parks of Timberline and the unparalleled training facilities of Windell’s Camp provide the perfect setting for invitees to progress their skills, while media partners Freeskier.com and Downdays.eu present all the action online.

But WCS is more than just a shoot; it’s also a community gathering. On Sunday, May 1 skiers of all ages and abilities are invited to join the crew for an unforgettable day of shred in the parks at Timberline.

The West Coast Session presents a unique opportunity for skiers and filmers, known and unknown, to do their thing for an attentive worldwide audience. In previous years WCS has welcomed well-known skiers such as Sammy Carlson, Anthony Boronowski, Blake Nyman, Kyler Cooley and Mike Wilson, while helping advance the careers of up-and-comers like Tom Wallisch, McRae Williams, Tim McChesney, Sean Jordan and Nick Goepper. Attending filmers have included Duncan Lake of Junction 133/Poor Boyz Productions, 4bi9 Media, LINE Traveling Circus and Stept Productions.
